NEW SONG | “Vinegar & Time” ~ Original by Kate Stedelbauer

New song went live last night on YouTube!

This song had to grow on me a little bit after I finished it. If you’ve ever heard the phrase that a good song is “three chords and the truth”, I guess that’s what I was thinking when I wrote this one. I have a tendency to pack a lot words into my songs, but I hope you’ll read the lyrics below and enjoy the story I’m telling. My message is simple – you’re mistakes don’t define you, and you’re never too far gone to be washed clean.

Thank you for listening! Don’t forget to thumbs-up the video and subscribe to my YouTube channel!

LYRICS:

I can’t sing some sad story ’bout doing time for crimes I ain’t committed

No I ain’t got no heartbreak line that’ll make my songs and struggles ones worth listening

cause I’ve been blessed and I’ve been saved and I’ve always had food waiting on my table

and I know the Lord’ll keep me safe if I run scared because my Cain has found my Able

but I got some bodies in the shed, got some bottles ‘neath the bed

and I tried to dump my demons while the devil, he was sleeping

and my laundry on the line, it’s got stains I’d rather hide

but momma always said that they’d wash fine

with vinegar and time

soak it up and make it white again

it’ll take a little time, but I know I’ll come out bright again

I didn’t know how hot the fire in my soul could get until it went and burned me

or how the taste of sweet red wine ain’t as nice as the aroma of integrity

and I’ve found some pots of gold

and I’ve kept them for myself

but I ain’t some righteous soul, I’m just a sheep crying for help

cause I got some bodies in the shed, got some bottles ‘neath the bed

and I tried to dump my demons while the devil, he was sleeping

and my laundry on the line, it’s got stains I’d rather hide

but momma always said that they’d wash fine

with vinegar and time

soak it up and make it white again

it’ll take a little time, but I know I’ll come out bright again

and I’ve tried running from things I won’t disclose

and I’ve had blood on my hands and burdens on my soul

no I can’t rest till I confess

that I got some bodies in the shed, got some bottles ‘neath the bed

and I tried to dump my demons while the devil, he was sleeping

and my laundry on the line, it’s got stains I’d rather hide

but momma always said that they’d wash fine

with vinegar and time

soak it up and make it white again

it’ll take a little time, but I know I’ll come out bright again

  1. Beautiful work as always. I liked the lyrics on this one a lot and they distantly reminded me of The Oh Hello’s. Particularly their song “Wishing Well” came to mind if you feel like checking them out!
