This is hands down my favorite time of year. The weather, the leaves, the pumpkins…everything about fall just makes my heart well with happiness. I got to spend this past weekend (Halloweekend, I might add) with friends up at their university, and it was so nice! The downtown up there is the CUTEST I’ve ever seen, so we spent some time there eating yummy food, browsing through their many antique stores (from which I got some AMAZING vintage stuff, which y’all will see later in this ABSQ), and getting funny looks from people because of the fake blood dripping down our faces (we dressed up as vampires).
Now that I’ve recapped my Halloweekend for y’all (but mainly myself, let’s be real), I’ll jump into this month’s ABSQ!
Album: Margo Price’s new record, All American Made
If you read my Music Monday on this album, then you could’ve guessed that it would also be featured in my next ABSQ. I love Margo Price, and I’ve patiently waited for her to release the sophomore installment in her musical catalogue. All American Made is filled with retro country sounds, strong opinions, and the steadfast spirit of Margo that she exhibits in everything she does. If you love Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, or Sturgill Simpson, I highly recommend giving Margo Price a try.
Beauty: Tarte Shape Tape Concealer – this concealer is so bomb!
I’d been wanting to try this product for a while when I finally caved and purchased it. Intended to be a contouring concealer, it’s creamy, full-coverage, and reasonably durable. It does dry pretty quickly, so I recommend doing one area of your face at a time with a damp makeup sponge. I think it’s a fantastic product and definitely worth the money! When a girl finds a good concealer, it just can’t be denied.
Style: my mini vintage haul!
If you know me, you know that I love vintage. That’s why I couldn’t resist when my friend and I discovered this antique store’s huge vintage clothing section this past weekend. Hats, belts, purses, coats, shoes, jewelry – they had everything. I ended up picking up a super fun snake print cross-body bag, a silky bandana scarf, and a gorgeous silver concho belt. In total, all of that came to $37, which is an incredible deal considering all of these same styles are being sold at Free People and could easily exceed $100. I’m very proud of my savvy shopping!
Isn’t it incredible to think that God wrote your story? Each stage of your life is quite literally a chapter in your book. In my opinion, to think about your existence this way adds such a weight of importance, whimsy, and magic to the concept of living out your best life. You were created to fulfill the plot that God wrote for you before you even entered this world. Is that not totally incredible and exciting to think about?
My Bible is a Message translation (here is the exact copy) and I am in love with the way it presents the word of God. It’s helped me grasp concepts and truths in a way that I never have before, simply through its beautiful phrasing and explanation. This passage at the beginning of 2 Corinthians 3 is a particular favorite of mine because it expresses the sanctity of each individuals’ life in relation to our God-imposed purpose. I believe everyone is created with a calling, and it absolutely breaks my heart when I hear people say that they feel like they don’t have one. If life is a gift, then wouldn’t it make sense to give something back with our life? Whether it be pursuing a career that makes you feel like you’re helping the world – starting a business, a charity, a blog, etc. – or following your creative talents and artistic callings even if they seem really daunting and scary (like I am doing), everyone is created with a purpose, and every purpose is God-given, God-driven, and God-supported. Furthermore, just because your purpose/story may not seem as grand or monumental as someone else’s by worldly standards, doesn’t mean it’s any less important or needed in today’s world.
So, if you feel like you’ve discovered your purpose – fantastic! Follow it, be brave, and know that you were created to fulfill it.
And if you’re not sure yet? You have nothing to fear – just be patient. It exists, it is important, and if you seek it, it will find you.
Here’s to living our best lives, y’all. I hope y’all enjoyed this month’s ABSQ. Stay tuned for a Music Monday coming up soon. Much love!
