6 Tips To A Fabulous Monday!

I think something that all of us can agree on is the fact that, most of the time, Mondays suck. If we’re being honest, the negative connotations and cultural perspective on Mondays alludes to a universal dislike of the first day of the work week.

After a relaxing weekend off, it is always hard to get back into the swing of things, especially at 8am on a Monday morning. The birds are singing, the coffee is hot, the traffic is as bustling as ever – and you might not even be 100% awake yet. However, a successful Monday is the very first step towards a successful week. I believe that with the right attitude, it’s possible to have a fantastic Monday, every Monday! Here are six tips that I have found to be incredibly helpful for having an awesome start to the week. I hope y’all enjoy!

1. Get some Sunday night sleep!

This tip is pretty self-explanatory. If you don’t get enough sleep on Sunday night, you will not feel so hot waking up on Monday morning. The National Sleep Foundation recommends 7-9 hours of sleep for adults, and though many of us may try to condition our bodies to run on a mere 6, this can actually cause us to go into sleep debt, which can affect you both physically and mentally throughout the day. I know that it is hard to get enough rest with such a busy schedule, but sleep really is foundational for a successful day, every day.

2. Squeeze in a workout.

I believe that a great Monday workout is one of the best ways to ensure success throughout the rest of the week. I have found that working out on Mondays keeps me on track to continue my workout routine as the week goes on. If you prefer to workout in the morning, then squeeze in a run or a HIIT circuit before you go to work. If you prefer to workout in the evening, maybe try a class at your local gym or do some sunset yoga. Any sort of workout, leisurely or intense, is a great component to add to your Monday routine. Get moving!

3. Outline exactly what it is you want to accomplish.

To-Do lists are my best friend. Literally. A great way to keep yourself on track and make for an accomplished Monday is to identify exactly what you need to get done, and do it without hesitation. If you feel like your Monday was productive and well-worked, you will gain momentum to continue to be successful throughout the rest of the week. 4. Eat a healthy, hearty breakfast.

Hunger is not your friend when you’re trying to have a good Monday. If your tummy is rumbling, you aren’t going to be able to focus on what you need to get done, and your thought process will become foggy. I am always sure to eat a solid breakfast and drink a cup of coffee, especially on a Monday morning. Eggs, turkey bacon, some whole grain toast with peanut butter, energizing fruit like berries or grapefruit, some hearty oatmeal – there are so many different combinations. Empty calories like donuts or sugary cereals are not going to get you very far – save those for special occasions.

5. Look the part. 

Personally, a great outfit that I am comfortable in always makes my day better. I feel more confident, put-together, and ready to get the job done. Throw on some lipstick, pick a pair of killer shoes, rock your favorite hair style – whatever it is that makes you say, “I’m fabulous.” Look the part, get the part, be the part. Show yourself and everyone else how ready you are to take on the day, and the world.

6. Pick something to look forward to.

For me, Monday night most often means the Bachelor/Bachelorette, or Bachelor in Paradise. It’s my two-hour window of reality TV guilty pleasure that I always look forward to. Whatever this may be for you, get excited about it! Whether it’s your favorite Monday night TV show, a great book waiting for you on your bedside table, or a relaxing bubble bath, find something that gives you the motivation to make it through your Monday. It’s okay to treat yourself!

Nobody is perfect, and life can get pretty tough sometimes, but I hope that my 6 tips will help you have a better Monday, a better week, and a better life in general.
